TALK TO YOUR CHILDREN ABOUT CORONAVIRUS

/ / News and Announcements

It is important to learn how to discuss the topic of the Coronavirus (COVID-19) with the little ones, for whom it may be harder to understand.

It is recommended that we educate ourselves with data from official sources, and then ask children what information they already know about the situation as well as their doubts or fears. It is also recommended that we clarify any of their questions in a simple way that also gives them some sense of calm and safety.

The best way to know how much your child knows about the topic, invite them to talk about it (you may use drawings, stories, etc.).

Establish a safe environment for your children so they feel comfortable enough to talk, that way you will be able to show them that you understand their emotions. Pay a lot of attention when they are speaking.

Be honest and talk to them using language that is appropriate for their age.

Talk to them about the different ways of protecting themselves from the coronavirus and many other illnesses through preventive measures, such as hand washing and covering nose and mouth when sneezing.

Explain that the safest option is to stay home during this situation.

Take care, let us all take care of each other!
