M3 and the University of Chicago Complete Preliminary Design Review of CMB-S4 South Pole Laboratory

M3, with collaboration of the University of Chicago, successfully completed a Preliminary Design Review of the Cosmic Microwave Background Stage 4 (CMB-S4) Laboratory Building. The CMB-S4 Laboratory building will act as a central support facility serving adjacent small aperture telescopes studying cosmic background radiation. Located at the South Pole, the project faces unique challenges in addressing very cold temperatures along with logistical constraints due to the extremely remote nature of the site and harsh environment.
