Vera C. Ruben Observatory – LSST 8.4m Surrogate Mirror

M3 was contracted by a steel fabricator to provide structural analysis for the Vera C. Rubin Observatory / LSST 8.4m surrogate mirror. M3 performed structural calculations addressing both gravity and lateral seismic loads for the 8.4m surrogate mirror, which was fabricated from steel plate. The surrogate mirror will be used during the commissioning of the observatory, located at El Peñón on Cerro Pachón, Chile.
