Magdalena Ridge Observatory Interferometer

RETURN TO PROJECTS

The Magdalena Ridge Observatory Interferometer (MROI) is located on the main ridge of the Magdalena Mountains, approximately 30 miles west of Socorro, New Mexico.  The MROI is an astronomical observatory that will consist of 10 telescopes (with 28 potential telescope pad mounting locations) located along three axes.  Light from the telescopes will be directed to the Beam Combining Facility where it will be processed.

M3’s primary role at this facility included Design, Engineering and Construction Administration services.  Engineering services included Civil, Structural, Architectural, Mechanical, Plumbing, and Electrical.  M3 provided design and engineering services for the Beam Combining Facility (6,200 s.f.), Delay Line Building (630 ft. long), and Control Building (5,000 s.f.).  M3 also provided engineering services for the telescope concrete foundations and site array infrastructure to support the 28 potential telescope pad mounting locations.  In addition to design and engineering services, M3 also provided on-site Construction Administration services.
